I'm excited to apply for the student officer role at University of East London Students Union. Being a voice for fellow students is both a responsibility and an honor to me. The role perfectly aligns with my belief in the impact of student leadership. I'm particularly drawn to its emphasis on inclusivity, recognizing that diverse perspectives enrich decision-making. With my prior experience in corporate system, my passion for positive change and dedication to listening make me a strong advocate for student welfare. Firstly, my involvement as a course representative for MSc IBM cohort, I actively organised various campus activities and organizations like Business Advice Center has provided me with valuable insight into the needs and concerns of the student body. Through these experiences, I have developed strong communication skills and a deep understanding of how to effectively advocate for student interests.
Additionally, my professional background in HR & Marketing has equipped me with analytical skills and problem-solving abilities that will be valuable in addressing complex issues facing students.
Furthermore, my commitment to inclusivity and collaboration ensures that I will work tirelessly to represent the diverse voices within our student community. I believe in creating opportunities for all students to have their voices heard and actively engage in shaping the direction of our university.
Overall, students should vote for me because I am dedicated to making a positive difference on campus and have the experience and skills necessary to be an effective advocate for their needs and aspirations.
What are your main priorities?
Based on my previous engagement sessions with Paddy Reilly and considering the needs of the student body, my priorities would be:
- Advocating for improved mental health services and access to resources that enhance student welfare.
- Pushing for more academic resources like tutoring, advising, and study spaces to aid student success.
- Leading initiatives that celebrate diversity, support underrepresented groups, and create an inclusive environment for all students.
- Advocating for upgrades to campus facilities and resources, including technology, recreational areas, and dining options, to improve student experiences.
- Promoting increased participation in campus activities, clubs, and events to enrich the student experience.
- Ensuring open and transparent communication channels between students and the university administration to facilitate involvement in decision-making processes.
- Collaboration with student organisations such as clubs, societies, and advocacy groups so that we can advise policies and initiatives that prioritize student needs and interests.
These goals are aimed at addressing student concerns and enhancing the quality of student life at the University of East London.
