Why do you want to do this role?
While working as the course representative, I have gained valuable insight into the key issues faced by students in our school, including the need to improve accessibility for students with disabilities and mobility issues, as well as the desire to enhance career opportunities for those in the visual arts cluster. This experience has prepared me to be an effective advocate for our students, and I am eager to take on the additional responsibilities of this role to drive meaningful change.
Why should students vote for you?
Throughout my time at UEL, I have demonstrated a deep commitment to the performing and creative arts, as well as a strong desire to advocate for the needs of my fellow students. What sets me apart is my genuine passion for networking and getting to know each person in our school community on an individual level. I understand that effective representation requires a nuanced understanding of the diverse perspectives and unique challenges faced by our peers. By taking the time to connect with students across all our programs, I will be able to amplify their voices and ensure their concerns are heard and addressed. With over 2 years of professional acting experience and a specialisation in applied theatre focused on social work, youth, homelessness, homophobia and autism, I have gained a deep understanding of the creative industries. I am passionate about the performing and creative arts and I am committed to using my skills and experience to ensure the student voice is heard and their needs are met.
What are your main priorities?
As the elected school representative, my top priority will involve developing clear action plans for each meeting, ensuring that tangible progress is made on addressing key issues. Finding effective ways to communicate student feedback to the university administration, working closely with support staff to drive meaningful change. This includes a particular focus on enhancing opportunities for the visual arts cluster, whether through increased funding, expanded career services, or greater recognition of our programs. Furthermore, I believe I can leverage my expertise in areas like project management and digital content creation to help establish a stronger East London arts brand identity, positioning our university as a leading hub for the visual arts.
With my extensive industry experience, my deep commitment to the performing and creative arts, and my proven track record of effective advocacy, I am uniquely positioned to be a powerful voice for my fellow students. I am passionate about this role and I am confident that I can drive meaningful change to enhance the student experience and unlock new opportunities for our community. I kindly ask for your vote to allow me to take on this crucial position.
