Studying LLB (Hons) Business Law (first year)

Why do you want to do this role?

I am the current course representative for LLB Business Law Level 4, having previously served as the first business course representative for the International Foundation Programme (IFP) at the UEL International Study Centre (ISC) during its 2022/23 academic session. As a course representative, I effectively championed the interests of the students at my level. I have also served as a pioneer member of the ISC student voice group. I am dedicated to promoting students’ interests, enhancing students’ voices, and creating a conducive environment for student success. I seek this role because of my quest for a conducive student learning environment.

Why should students vote for you?

Over the course of the 2023/24 academic year, I have watched with keen interest the struggles of students, specifically in the School of Business & Law and at the university in general. It is at this end that I have adopted the CAAP that fits in why students should vote for me. These are;

1. Commitment to Student Voice: I firmly believe that students should actively participate in shaping their educational journey. If voted for, I will serve as a steadfast advocate for student voices, working in collaboration with the course representatives and other stakeholders to ensure students are not only heard but also given due consideration in all matters concerning school policies, organisations (timetabling and class allocations), events, etc. Together, we will build a school culture where every opinion is valued and every student feels empowered to contribute.

2. Accessible and Approachable Leadership: Accessibility is key to effective representation. If elected as course representative, I promise to be readily available and approachable. Whether it’s through regular office hours, online platforms, or in-person meetings, I will always make myself accessible to listen to student concerns, ideas, and suggestions. Their input will be the driving force behind the decisions I make as we collaboratively navigate challenges and celebrate triumphs as a united student community.

3. Advocacy for Student Needs: I firmly believe that an engaged student body is a thriving student body. To this end, students’ needs and aspirations are at the forefront of my priorities. I am dedicated to advocating for enhancements in learning facilities, resources, and academic programmes to ensure that students’ university experience is enriching and fulfilling. Together, we will engage with school administration, making certain that our voices resonate in the corridors of decision-making, leading to tangible improvements that benefit us all.

4. Promotion of Diversity and Inclusivity: Our diversity is our strength, and inclusivity is our shared responsibility. I will tirelessly promote diversity and inclusivity within our school, fostering an environment where students from all backgrounds feel respected, supported, and celebrated. Through proactive measures and meaningful initiatives, we will cultivate a culture of understanding and acceptance, paving the way for a truly inclusive and vibrant school community.

What are your main priorities?

The CAAP encompasses my main priorities. It ensures student representation, enhances accessibility, advocates for student needs, and promotes diversity and inclusivity within the School of Business and Law and the University of East London.
